Recipe: Dutch Oven Spareribs
Ingredients
(Serves 4)
- 3 racks of spareribs
- Oil
- 2 onions
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 bunch of parsley
- 1 bottle of dark beer
- 2 tablespoons of barbecue rub of your choice
- Barbecue sauce (optional)
Preparation
Prepare the Ingredients:
- Cut the spareribs in individual ribs.
- Finely chop the onions.
- Cut the bell pepper into small pieces.
- Finely chop the parsley.
Heat the Dutch Oven:
- Hang the Dutch oven a fire and add a splash of oil.
- Brown the spareribs until they turn light brown.
Add Vegetables and Seasonings:
- Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the Dutch oven.
- Pour in the beer, add the barbecue rub and the chopped parsley.
- Mix all well.
Cook the Ribs:
- Hang the Dutch oven a bit higher above the fire and let the ribs stew with the lid on.
- Occasionally check if there is enough liquid in the pan, adding more beer or water if needed.
- The ribs are done when the meat starts to pull back from the bone and comes off easily. This will take approximately 1½ to 2 hours.
Finish (Optional):
- You can eat the spareribs as they are, but for extra flavor, brush them with barbecue sauce.
- Grill them briefly over the fire until the sauce begins to caramelize.
Enjoy your delicious Dutch Oven spareribs!
